Addition Subtraction Race

A fun game for students to be excited to learn fact tables.
Make this 1-10 race track.
Students can make their own racing piece (we even had an ice cream cone and rocketship)
Every few days give students +1 fact tables. They need to finish 15 correctly in 7 minutes to move onto +2.
When they get to 10, start over with subtraction!
this is a really fun exciting way for them to learn their fact tables and they get very excited to move to the next square.

Great game. I've used something similar for multiplication/division.

  3. Cute. :) I'm so glad you got this site ready to go! I think it'll be wonderful to connect to other teachers in the blogosphere.

One quick thing, if you take out the last closing tag ( />) on your button html then you'll lose that symbol from underneath.

  6. That's great!

When I was a kid, we could do the multiplication tables one at a time. Say, if I was ready to do two I would tell my teacher. If I could complete a worksheet with all of them in one minute I would get a "teacher dollar" - she had a store full of goodies such as pencils, notepads, etc with different costs. You would get the money for each one you learned, so it motivated me to learn all of my multiplication tables. Same idea!

  9. Hello all! I'm the Science (Secondary Ed) soon-to-be teacher. I'm volunteering at an elementary school right now which is a little out of my element so I would like to ask some questions to Elementary school science teachers. I want to do some fun and educational activities with kids in an after school science club - do you have any ideas? My research area for my bachelor in Earth Science is with fossils so I'll definitely do one with that cool stuff. Any other suggestions though? The segments in the after school program are generally 30 minutes long and I really want science to stand out for the kids! (My first bunch is 4th grade, second bunch is K-1). Thanks so much!
